Bihar celebrates Republic Day

Patna (Magnificent Bihar): In spite of the recent threats by banned organizations (Maoists), the Bihar state celebrated National Republic Day with vibrant colors and high spirits. People from all around the state especially Patnites gathered in large numbers at the historic Gandhi-Maidan to celebrate the 63rd Republic Day of India, despite a statewide highalert issued by the (IB). In presence of the CM and deputy CM Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi, the Bihar Governor Devanand Kunwar hoisted the tricolor followed by an amazing display of March-past by various infantries of military and police. The thousand that witnessed the spectacle were mesmerized, as the smoke of dust from the rampaging of infantries created an illusion of a desert storm. The Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also hoisted the tricolor at his official residence.
A display of colorful ‘Jhankis’ from different government organizations, NGOs and private firms took place, which left the viewers speechless. Among the much appreciated were the ComFed ‘Sudha’ jhanki which was themed on development and empowerment of women through their active involvement in the society and ‘Samjhe-Shikhe’ by Bihar HRD, which focused on educating guardians to involve in the upbringing of their children, and insuring they become better human beings. The Bihar Electricity Board’s jhanki was one of the most informative, as it explained various processes to pay bills, get new connection and complain redressal. Also on showcase were Jhankis educating people about disaster relief and management, improving agriculture and non-conventional energy sources. A Jhanki regarding a newly installed ‘Radio- Yojna’ was also on display which aims to provide radio sets to the Maha-Dalit.
The governor then addressed the people present and acknowledged the Bihar government for a remarkable performance in the last year. While explaining various unique measures taken by the state government to curb injustice, crime and corruption Konwar lauded the government for initiating steps to develop the state. He said Bihar seems to have found the right screws for its development mechanism which is ultimately projecting better results in fields of agriculture, irrigation, energy, education, health and environment.Defining crucial steps to avail better facilities for people of the state, he pointed out the Right to Service Act which deals in 40 public utility services.
Reiterating the zero-tolerance norm of the Bihar government on corruption issues, Governor said Lokayukta bill 2011 was passed by the state legislature bringing people’s representatives including chief minister under its purview. He also appealed the people to assist in the efforts for making Bihar a developed state. He elaborated various steps taken by the state government and their results like ‘Bhumi-Sudhar’, ‘Shri Vidhi’. He alsoexplained the steps taken to survey the land and settlement by enacting legislation called Bihar Special Survey and Settlement Bill 2011.
Maoists, who had earlier issued warnings to disrupt the Republic Day Celebration being held all over the  state, also put up black flags in Gaya, Aurangabad, Muzaffarpur, Munger and Banka. However the spirit of a free willed republic nation surpassed the bad intentions of banned organizations.Celebrations took place at various district headquarters, with thousands participating in every venue. The Maoists clearly failed to dampen the spirit of a common proud Indian. Wishing the development of our ever so lovely country, we at Magnificent Bihar would like to communicate a message to all our readers,a message of communal harmony, peace and respect. Be the Catalyst of your own renaissance, and the world will worship you.
